Audi's Message of the Day

Haven't posted in awhile. Fortunately, no one pays attention to these anyway, so no harm done.

I've upgraded the map with show/hide capabilities, and I must say, they are a pain to code. I wanted to do the same thing for the MOTD and (soon-to-exist) talk archives, but now I'm having second thoughts. Knowing me, I'll probably do it, but I might do it an external editor that can indent code.

About Me

Hey all, and welcome to my user page! My name around Wikipedia is Audacitor, and you'll also find me under that name on a lot of other sites, such as Digg and Pownce.

I'm currently working my way through high school via a correspondence course, and it puts quite a heavy load on me. Such that I figure that on a normal day I can do light work around Wikipedia, but nothing to involved, unless circumstances dictate otherwise (and they've been known too).

Of course, I'm still a relatively new user, having only joined on the 14th of August, 2007. I've used Wikipedia extensively in the past, and corrected the odd grammar mistake or two, so I already know some basic editing skills, but hopefully, having an account and an adopter like Hersfold, I should be able to do much more in the near future.

Skills I've Got

The following is a list of all my major skills that could be applied to the project. If you need help with anything on that list, just leave a message on my talk page, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Web Development

I am well versed in HTML, XHTML, and CSS, and fair in Wiki Markup. I can also make basic templates.

Graphic Design

As far as Photoshop goes, I can white out backgrounds, repair scratches and dust, breathe life into badly colored photos, recolor illustrations, apply filters and effects, and other assorted minor doctoring.

Also, I can produce Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) versions of basic illustrations. I can't promise that my work will look exactly like the original, but I can retain ideas and make sure my work gets the idea across.

Writing

I'm not the best writer in the world, and I can't promise %100 grammar error free text, but I have a broad vocabulary and good sentence variation. My spelling is excellent, and I'm very good at spotting typos.

Other

Of course, I'm always happy to try new things, and I can cope even if I don't end up liking whatever said things turn out to be. If you just need an extra hand on something, I'm open for it.

Skills I'd Like to Have

Of course, there's a lot of stuff I can't but would like to be able to do. If you can and are willing to help, please leave a message on my talk page.

Markup

I need help learning XML.

Programming

I have an interest in learning as many programming languages as practically possible, especially C++, Java, MySQL, Ruby, Perl, and Python. I've tried learning from dozens of different books, but for once, it just doesn't work.

Scripting

I could also use tutoring in JavaScript, ActionScript, AJAX, and PHP.

Special Challenge

Teach me to how to set up a fully functional test wiki site on my home computer. My computer is an Apple iMac G5, with a PowerPC processor, running OS X 10.4.10.
