Atrai is located at 24.6125° N 88.9708° E . It has 30570 units of house hold and total area 284.41 km².

As of 1991 Bangladesh census^[1], Atrai has a population of 166978. Males constitute are 50.88% of the population, and females 49.12%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 83466. Atrai has an average literacy rate of 26.8% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate. ^[2]
