Talk:Atomic Betty
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the second entry under trivia, there is what appears to be an episode summary. This doesn't seem to belong here, and definately needs a rewrite even if it does. 62.252.128.17 23:07, 28 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Titles and character names in other languages?
Could someone provide the titles of the show and character names in different languages? --User:Angie Y. Do you want to put the language in French? --User:Melimited
I'm not sure they would be well received here, but the episode titles in French can be found by going to www.teletoon.com, clicking on the "Francais" side, and searching for the show. Some of the titles translate literally, some don't. If you have a bit of French knowledge you can probably figure out which are which. As far as I have seen from French clips of the show, all character names are identical, although X-5 is referred to as "X Cinq". --BlueSquadronRaven 16:15, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Betty's Last Name
I would be most interested to find out where Betty's last name (Barrett) came from. It's never been mentioned in the series, nor is it on the back of any of the toys I've seen assosciated with the show. --BlueSquadronRaven
Follow up: According to the article history, her last name was added by a known vandal, and quite probably exists only in his own mind. Reference removed. --BlueSquadronRaven 18:06, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
I have also seen no evidence anywhere of an 88-minute pilot episode being released. Where did this come from? --BlueSquadronRaven
Follow up: Ditto. --BlueSquadronRaven 18:06, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Penelope Lang
I think it is incorrect to assume Penelope is Chinese. The surname Lang is often used by Europeans, and both her parents in the show are most definitely caucasian. I would speculate that her darker skin, black hair, and first name of Penelope would indicate a Mediterranean Greek background. --BlueSquadronRaven 20:13, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
Follow-up: Aside from Spindly Tam Kanushu, the only character who seems to have definite Asian features is Penelope's crony Sarah. --BlueSquadronRaven 20:29, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Changed the entry for X-5 in the voice cast
The link for Bruce Hunter leads to a poet. That clearly isn't the same guy.
Oops. I better unlink it again. --BlueSquadronRaven 07:57, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
- The Colin Fox link is also incorrect, leading to a Scottish Politician! There is no page for the Canadian-born actor [Colin Fox IMDB] --CokeBear 11:08, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Trivia Item
I removed a trivia item about Atomic Betty appearing as the company mascot. While she may be the darling of Atomic Cartoons, she does not consistantly appear in the company's production logos. No character at all appears in the logo following the credits to Captain Flamingo, for example. --BlueSquadronRaven 08:03, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Betty's Last Name, redux.
Well, at least there's a cite for it now. And, according to Amazon.com's book text search feature, it is there. I have no idea how well it will catch on or if the creators at Atomic Cartoons will consider it canon. Typically, anything that happens in books isn't considered a true part of the series (the only exception I know of is the novels related to Babylon 5), but we'll see if this changes things in the series.
Personally, after William Shatner's appearance as her grandfather, I think her last name should be Kirk. --BlueSquadronRaven 18:06, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
For the same reason, I think until the name is confirmed as canon, it does not need to be plastered all over every member of her family. Indeed, so far there's a continuity error within the show as to wheter or not Betty's two known grandparents are the parents of her mother or father, so, discretion should be the order of the day. --BlueSquadronRaven 16:19, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Sparky's Race
In the episode "The Doppleganger," X-5 mentions Sparky's race but I can't find an official spelling: Newtronian, Neutronian, etc. Cuteswan 00:21, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
I believe I heard it pronounced "Neutropian" (with a 'p' instead of an 'n'). However, I haven't found a spelling of it either. --BlueSquadronRaven 17:41, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
You're 100% right. My bad. Cuteswan 16:00, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
I think it's spelled "Newtropian" with a 'w' instead of an 'u'. vince g. 21:53, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Mother's Occupation
The page currently states that Betty's mother is a "stereotypical hairdresser," but in "Atomic Roger" she does a horrific job cutting Betty's hair, putting a plastic bowl on her head and using paper scissors (a "home haircutting kit"). Is it explicitly stated in the series or elsewhere that she is a hairdresser or even some form of Cosmetology? If not, perhaps the wording could be changed to "dresses and acts in a stereotypical hairdresser fashion" (or preferably something smoother)? Cuteswan 17:20, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
Quite true. I was going to change it based on that very argument, but hadn't gotten to it yet.--BlueSquadronRaven 04:30, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Character Listings
With regard to the other arrangement of character listings that has surfaced now and again, if I may be blunt, it is all kinds of terrible. As few categories as possible should be the name of the game, and I think "Recurring Characters" is a better catch-all than breaking them down into "minor" and so on. (Who's to say what may or may not constitute a minor character?) Remember KISS (Keep It Seriously Simple). --BlueSquadronRaven 04:54, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Related articles
What should I do? Raven? --JSH-alivetalk with mesee my works 09:02, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
That is a very good question. Unfortunately, the guy who created the above three articles often runs wild with his edits and doesn't communicate with anyone. He once removed the character listings from this article and placed them in a separate one (a move which I reversed, and then asked for and got the second article deleted). He and his sock puppets are banned frequently. I would otherwise, personally, never have thought of creating these articles based on commercial spin-offs, nor even would think of putting mention of them in the main article. Indeed, I'd almost go so far as to say the two video-game ones should be deleted as well. However, perhaps a related articles list would be best. As yet, I think it would be in the article's best interest not to get fractured and require a disambiguation page, nor get so convoluted as, say, the multiple articles related to Jimmy Neutron, which requires its own navigation template. --BlueSquadronRaven 19:51, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] By the way,
Where and what is the source of the Canadian episode order?--JSH-alivetalk to mesee my worksmail to me 09:00, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
Erf... I'll get back to you. (Being Canadian, I can vouch for it, but I'll find a source ASAP.) --BlueSquadronRaven 19:00, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image:Atomic Betty Cast Poster.jpg
You know, if you exclude the site's logo (in the bottom right corner), the poster is almost a perfect copy of the series' opening logo, which would be ideal for the infobox, if someone could find a version minus the logo. —May the Edit be with you, always. [edit] Unsourced Statements
I've noticed recently some users have added these statements in the Production section in the article. They read this: According to some Atomic Cartoons staff, Atomic Betty is now available online at Veoh.com and According to some Atomic Cartoons staff, Atomic Betty will return to Cartoon Network in the United States around summer 2007, starting with the rest of the second season episodes. First off, I'd like some answers. I know that Atomic Betty can be seen on Veoh, but since when the Atomic Cartoons staff say it can seen from there? Where are these users getting sources with that info? vince g. 22:26, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Yes, Atomic Betty is available on Veoh but that's just some uploaded recorded episodes by a user, I mean it's not to be taken as official. And according to a survey I made the show is yet to find a broadcaster in the US so that is only a speculation. I'm going to delete it until someone gets a serious proof of it. Pauljonnes 14:05, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Adding pictures
I'm sure it would be better if we add some more pictures to the article. It would be better that way. I recommend adding the logo, perhaps pics of the most important characters and a random picture from the show Pauljonnes 14:14, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
I found some great photos of some of the main characters Here about a month ago, but I never really considered it for the article. I'll try to put it on the article soon. vince g. 15:41, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, that would be perfect.

[edit] Season 3
Does anyone know when the third season of AB will air in Canada? Cartoon Network removed this show about 2 years ago from their lineup here in the United States. I heard at TV.com that the show is on hiatus until the third season airs.
Season 3 will begin in July. Etownoilers (talk) 05:15, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
