ATLANTIS Magazine was founded in 2003, by Eric Kennedy, formerly of duPont Publishing, Inc. Kennedy, who had previously worked with duPont REGISTRY co-founders started at duPont Publishing in 1985. The duPont REGISTRY is most known for its world famous automotive title that is read by the rich and famous, hollywood movie stars and professional athletes. Kennedy rose through the rank and file to emerge as a top manager for the publishing firm. It was there that in 1995, Kennedy led the company to launch its first new title, duPont REGISTRY - "A Buyers Gallery of Fine Homes." The title was selected out of a record 838 magazines launched that year as one of the 50 Most Notable Launches in 1995, which is a distinguished honor named to each recipient by Hearst Magazine Enterprises, Inc. and Journalism Professor, Samir Husni, Phd.

It was a sixteen year career at duPont Publishing, that served as a platform for Kennedy to launch his own title, ATLANTIS Magazine.

ATLANTIS Magazine seeks to enlighten its readers with provocative and short editorials which are enjoyable and educating. It is because of ATLANTIS Magazine's focus on environmental issues that readers will commonly see stories on issues like global warming along side performing arts reviews and interviews wih entertainers. ATLANTIS Magazine regularly donates full page ads to environmental non-profit groups such as, Earthshare and The Nature Conservancy who recently submitted an ad campaign featuring Actor, Tom Hanks as a spokesperson who encourages readers to take note of and preserve the earth's fragile environment.
