Talk:Athos (mythology)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] Comments
On the site theoi, Athos is reffered to as a mountain god. This is a qoute from Theoi:
"THE OUREA were the Protogenoi (primeval gods) or rustic Daimones (spirits) of the mountains. Each and every Mountain was said to have its own ancient bearded god. Mountains were occasionally depicted in classical art as bearded old men rising up from between their craggy peaks."
However, on Theoi Athos is not mentioned as one of the gigantes. Does this mean that the wikipedia article on Athos is wrong? Or does this mean that their is a discussion about the origin of the name Athos?
