Atchison, Republican Valley and Pacific Railway
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Atchison, Republican Valley and Pacific Railway was incorporated on May 15, 1878 and was planned to operate from Atchison, Kansas, along the Republican River to near Willow Island, Nebraska.[citation needed] The Central Branch Union Pacific Railroad played a major role in the founding of the railroad and took over the route before any actual track was laid; it was merged into the Atchison, Colorado and Pacific Railroad (leased to the Central Branch[citation needed]) on June 23, 1879.
