Talk:Astrogenetics

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I'm responding to a request for research on the article page.

"Astrogenetics" seems to refer to a variety of systems that seem unrelated to each other.

There are a few books by Maurice M. Cotterell that includes references to "Astrogenetics". Example: http://www.knowledge.co.uk/xxx/cat/mayan/ "In 1986 Maurice Cotterell put forward a revolutionary theory concerning astrology and sun cycles...As his earlier work on what he called Astrogenetics indicated that human fertility was dependent on the presence of sunspots" http://www.leviticus11.com/mayans.htm includes a table of contents of a book by the same Cotterell with a couple of chapters on "Astrogenetics"

Earlier there was a book by Edmund L. Van Deusen called "Astrogenetics: How your parents' genes and your season of birth can influence your life". Example: http://books.izvilina.com/astrogenetics-how-your-parents_339655c0.html. This book review describes astrogenetics as a way to provide a genetic explanation of why astrological signs are weakly correlated with personality traits.

The Ayurvedic description in the current version of the article may be described further in these references in Vigyan Bharati Pradeepika, an Ayurvedic journal published since 1994. AstroGenetics Part 1 Marriage and Family March 1999, Vol. 5 No. 1 AstroGenetics Part 2 Astro-Biology of Human Reproduction October 1999, Vol. 5No. 2 Astrogenetics Part 3 Review of researches made so far in India April 2005 Vol.11. No. 1 Astrogenetics Part 4 Review of researches made so far in World October 2005 Vol. 11. No. 2 However, it appears that this journal has ceased publication, or at least has lost its website. The Google cache can be used to see summary descriptions of many of these articles.

Finally, there is an 'Astrogenetics.com' with a very incomplete website as of this date. Astrogenetics is shown with a trademark symbol on that site.

I propose to wait a couple of weeks to see if anyone can provide more or better information, and then I'll put a version of this in to the main article. Jimsg 14:54, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
