Talk:Astor family

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of familymembers is somewhat confusing. We need a consistent and fairly obvious (to the reader) numbering or listing system so it can be clearly seen who is the son of whom etc. - Matthew238 02:38, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Anglo American

Anglo American of German descent? That doesn't make sense. It should be one or the other.

[edit] Page name

I moved this page back to Astor family from The Astors. "The Astors" goes against accepted practice, which is evident by visiting Category:American families. — BrianSmithson 22:01, 8 March 2006 (UTC) I dont know where to put this but there seems to be a perpetuated mistake that Sarah Todd wife of JJ Astor came with him from Germany, this is not correct she was of Scottish descent and he met and married her in the USA.

[edit] Astor and Astoria Names Around the US

Why is it assumed that any of these names around the country have anything to do with this particular family. They were NYC real estate speculators not US real estate speculators. That is a tremendous assumption to make that the naming of these town and locales (outside of NYC) had anything to do with this particular family. If you do that, you are rewriting history - just not as it occurred... Stevenmitchell 13:39, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

But a lot of these places around the U.S. were named after the Astors. - Matthew238 22:21, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

our family, not only owned large portion,s of the us, but we still do, and we are property speculator,s in several place,s in the us and in europe as well, our family were heavily involved in german matters before the second world war, including financial help, this will be told mainly in my book about my family, which i am writing —Preceding unsigned comment added by Victoria astor (talkcontribs) 00:52, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
