Astoria is the debut album from the Los Angeles rock band The Shys. It was released on iTunes on June 6, 2006, and in stores the following July 11.
[edit] Information
They recorded everything live on vintage equipment in two weeks in Studio B of Hollywood Sound Records with no more than three takes. The band has also expressed that the album was recording in an intimate and laid back setting. The album was already available at their shows, prior to the iTunes release. In their interview with the Los Angeles Times, frontman Kyle Krone said "What we didn't want to do was just make the same old glossy crap you hear a lot of".
[edit] Music videos
A music video for "Call In The Cavalry", directed by Brian Lazzaro, was filmed in Culver City and aired June 5 on MTV. "Call In The Cavalry" is also the theme song for MTV's show, Fast Inc.
