Asleep in the Deep is a song written by Arthur J. Lamb and composed by Henry Petrie in 1897. The phrase asleep in the deep refers to death by drowning. It gave its name to a Dad's Army episode which sees the platoon trapped in a pumping station and threatened by drowning. The song is briefly referenced by character Private Walker.
