Ashingdon is a village and civil parish in Essex, England. It is located about 4 km (2 miles) north-northwest of Rochford and is 21 km (13 miles) southeast from the county town of Chelmsford. The village lies within Rochford district and the parliamentary constituency of Rayleigh. There is a Parish Council.[1]
According to the 2001 census the parish had a population of 3,165.[citation needed]
It was the site of the Battle of Ashingdon on October 18th 1016 and the church which lies on the hill was built 4 years after the battle (1020) by 'Canute the Great' of Denmark.
It is featured on a Weight Watchers advertisement in King George's Playing field.
