[edit] Political debut
Asaduddin made his political debut into the Lok Sabha from the constituency of Hyderabad by defeating his nearest rival Baddam Bal Reddy of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with a margin of 100,145 votes. Earlier this seat was represented by his father Senior Owaisi. Asaduddin Owaisi was also a Member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly for ten years before becoming a Member of Parliament.
It was the seventh straight victory of the All India Majlis-e Ittihad al-Muslimin (MIM) in the Hyderabad seat. The seat was previously occupied by his father , MIM supremo Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi , who decided to pass on the mantle of MIM leadership in favour of his eldest son, citing health concerns.
