[edit] The 1987 African Cup Winners Cup Epopee

In 1987, the Dragons de l'Oueme, led by a Dream Team composed of Abédi Pelé, Peter Rufai, Gangbo Bashirou, Kingston Ashabi and with the vision and ambition of late Gbadamassi Moucharaf (then Chairman of the "Dragons de l'Oueme") will reach the semi-finals at the African Cup Winners Cup. In the Semi-finals, the Dragons de l'Oueme, opposed to Gor Mahia of Kenya will eventually loose due to a famous treason from Goalkeeper Peter Rufai. It has been acknowledged that Peter Rufai, shortly before the return match held in Nairobi, has been bribed by officials from Gor Mahia. The Dragons de L'Oueme lost that game by 2-3.
