Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/Steven Farmer

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

[edit] No.

I am calling into question your inherent and very clear slanted bias concerning this article. You are POV pushing. I feel that you have no right to call another author "notable" or not notable and use that as your basis for deletion. The only reason that I can see from your User Talk page as your personal axe to grind is that of your vigilance against diploma mills. For that biasness, I feel that you need to do a bit more research on your subjects before marking them like the Fire Department in Fahrenheit 451.

As for your comment concerning Hay House as an undistinguished publisher, I can only assume that you have been living under a rock for the last 20 years or more. Consequently, as you have been living under said rock, you have failed to notice the rise in metaphysical bookstore and literature populating the world. Hay House is a world wide multi billion dollar publishing house (Sylvia Brown, Dr. Doreen Virtue Ph. D., Dr. Wayne Dyer, Jerry and Ester Hicks, etc.), which again, puts another hole in your reason for deletion.

For your liable sayings concerning Mr. Farmer's education as reasons for deletion, I fail to see how that warrants any of your time. Please look at Ms. Paris Hilton's page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paris_hilton) if you would like to complain using your judgment that a lack of collegiate education leads to a lack of a solid foundation of decent morals and values. Before committing to a valuable career in metaphysical studies, Mr. Farmer was a noted person in the field of spiritual psychotherapy. Additionally, now he is a noted author of spiritual books, created a card deck on the subject of Power Animals, and hosts his own radio show on Hay House radio.

Now, I can agree that the article should (and will) have more text information concerning Mr. Farmer's contributions to the metaphysical society. That will happen. However, I do NOT under any additional circumstances agree with your reasons for deletion. You simply acted our your biased POV with limited references and under another pretense of diploma mill research. However, as a admin at Wikipedia, I hope that you show more restraint with your biases - least other articles have the same aforementioned Fire Department treatment.

If you are not interested in metaphysical studies, please understand that your bias is your challenge to overcome, not ours. Wikipedia is a free public resource for information for the world. Not just you.

I know that you are making a difference and are valuable in your time in supporting the structure of Wikipedia and the goals and dreams of the vision. But here, concerning Mr. Farmer, you are simply in the wrong. Character defacement without a solid foundation is not something that should be taken lightly and tossed around like salt.

1) To demonstrate Farmer is notable please link to WP:RS about him. This includes best sellers lists, NY Times articles, and so on that prove people are interested in his work. 2) A listing at amazon.com proves nothing. Self published authors and vanity publishers sell their goods through amazon.com 3) It is misleading to refer to him as "Dr Farmer" without explaining the nature of his "education." It is false, or at least misleading to call a person "Dr" with a degree from Madison University. 4) No one gets a PhD in "metaphysics." That is a warning sign in of itself. Metaphysics is a branch of philosophy. Thus, one might get a PhD in philosophy by writing a dissertation about metaphysics. 5) This article concerns Farmer, and you should make that the subject in your remarks. I await the sources that show the subject conforms to WP:BIO. Good luck. Arbustoo 01:24, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
