The expression is a part of Indian pop culture. It refers to a person who brings bad luck. I didn't get a chance to write the whole entry. It would have read thus: "Iron leg" is an expression used in Andhra Pradesh, used to denote someone who brings bad luck by being present. The expression was made popular by the the Telugu film "Appula Apparao" starring Rajendra Prasad. The movie had a character called "Iron Leg Shastry" played by Gunupudi Vishwanatha Shastri who often changed the course of events around him simply by being there, usually from a postive direction to a negative one. His brother, who ironically was an astrologer, and a very good one at that, failed miserably whenever he was around, because his predictions would be radically altered by the presence of his brother who literally had the Iron Leg. However the character of "Iron Leg Shastry" was introduced in "Prema Khaidi", before "Appula Apparao", but it only became popular because of the latter. Shastri went on to play other roles, but for a while, he was typecast as the person with "the Iron Leg". Since then, Iron Leg has come to be used, atleast in a movie industry sense, someone who brings bad luck. As in, "Shriya ended her Iron leg with a string of hits in Tamil."
