Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/Gaymation

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Terms like "DL Thug" "Acault" "En femme" and "U-Haul lesbian" have a wiki entry but to be honest, I just clicked the wiki "lgbt" link and can state, as a Gay man who has been out for 25+ years (I'm over 30)... This was my first time hearing them.

[edit] From the gaymation talk page

I have yet to obtain an answer but I'll post here in hopes it's read by someone

Gaymation is the correct term for Gay animation. It has been a term used in the GLBT community, mainly the GLBT Film Festival circuit.

There is an "issue" with the term being low on the google search term list.

Sadly, terms like Yaoi are superior in the "google" rank but that doesn't mean yoai is the correct term for gay animation (gaymation). Yaoi is the term for Gay Japanimation. There are also a number of slang terms being used for gay animation.

This entry doesn't link to a corporation or business. It lists 3 film festivals because a deletion warning was placed on the page stating Gaymation was a "new" or "made up" term. The film festival's were listed with date to show the term, in printed use, of 5+ years and not a new term. Just the "Correct" term.

This entry is within it's infancy as it was posted less than 2 hours ago. Little is publicly documented on GLBT animation (gaymation) and with it's existence, allows for a factual collection of information documenting GLBT animation (gaymation) to be listed.

The Film Festival information can and will be removed if this is seen as the business entity that causes a deletion notice. Again, it was listed when the issue of "new term" was posted as a reason for deletion.

I want to comply with Wiki and the wiki guidelines. I just don't understand the determination to delete a valid topic after asking for an example and then adding a new deletion on top of the answer.

If it's a "news paper" source on the term that is needed: Experience LA at the bottom of the page

  • The LGBT Film Festival is well known for the collections of short films that grace each year's offerings. This year there are eight programs of shorts from all over the world, including Gaymation: Animated Shorts (2 pm Sunday, Sept. 22), in which various forms of animation are utilized in queer-friendly toons

[edit] Further

I have saved all text and made screen prints of this whole situation. Being that it's Sunday, I should hear little word until Monday but will be sending everything to the LGBT equality office with factual detail, screen prints and text for further investigation into the matter.
