The result was keep. Non-administrative closure. Spacepotato (talk) 00:04, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] RRIICCEE
No assertion of notability. Only source is their own website. Probably vanity entry.Keep per WP:MUSIC will381796 (talk) 16:39, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

- Keep: A famous actor, director, musician is in the band (Vincent Gallo), as well as some members of Hole, a famous band. But, I don't know much about the band, which explains the slow start to this article. Tparameter (talk) 05:49, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

I just have to state that having famous band members does not make the band notable.will381796 (talk) 05:51, 9 December 2007 (UTC)- Comment Yes it emphatically does; please read the notability guidelines for musicians and ensembles at WP:BAND. Skomorokh incite 13:45, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
- Comment Intuitively, if we can agree that, if President Bush and Brittany Spears started a band together, that band would be "notable", purely by the fame of the members. Then this particular case is simply reduced to: how notable? In either case, RRIICCEE is to some degree notable; which, beyond simple intuition, is evidenced by the news coverage mentioned below. This band is particularly notable among alternative sub-cultures, i.e. fans of Gallo's movies and fans of the band Hole. Tparameter (talk) 16:09, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
- It is my understanding that notability, in Wikipedia terms, is an absolute condition, a case of all or nothing. The existence of intuitively marginal cases is the reason why we have very specific necessary and sufficient conditions, so that decisions like this are not resolved on an arbitrary whim. Skomorokh incite 16:22, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
- Exactly my point. Nevertheless, some people have problems understanding "marginal cases" like this one, which is why I used an extreme example. Tparameter (talk) 16:41, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Delete unless, obviously, a suitable verification of notability can be made.Keep per WP:MUSIC and the the references (two somewhat trivial, but others having definite merit). My initial reaction to reading #6 in WP:MUSIC was to redirect, but would it redirect to Vincent Gallo or Eric Erlandson? This article needs serious work, but it is more clear now that notability is established per Wikipedia policy, and that there is legitimate source work to begin doing that. LonelyBeacon (talk) 16:15, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
- Comment:San Francisco Weekly, New York Magazine South Bend Tribune, Time Out New York, Washington Post for starters. Note that these need not even be non-trivial in coverage, but merely need verify the members in order to confer notability. Skomorokh incite 13:45, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
KeepSpeedy Keep as the nominator has voted keep and there are no outstanding delete votes. Per WP:MUSIC criterion 6, any band with a member who was previously involved in an independently notable band is itelf notable. Eric Erlandson is a former member of Hole, therefore RRIICCEE is notable. A redirect would be inappropriate as there is no suitable target page, with Erlandson and Vincent Gallo both candidates, and there is enough material in the above cited reliable sources to write a non-stub article. Skomorokh incite 13:45, 9 December 2007 (UTC)- Keep per criterion #6 of WP:MUSIC, contains a member of another notable band. References are enough to establish notability as well. - Comment From my reading, we have reached Wikipedia:Snowball, and should close this debate early. LonelyBeacon (talk) 17:31, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
- Looks that way. Further objection to clear-cut criteria is unlikely. Tparameter (talk) 17:42, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
