Oddly, the game itself exists — a simple idea, and I remember playing it years ago — but "Oxenfez" Googles at zero: giveaway to this hoax is that there's no county of North East Lincolnshire. — Bill 19:34, 7 Oct 2004 (UTC)
North East Lincolnshire and Lincolnshire were 2 counties formed in the late 1990's by the splitting of the county of Humberside. Council website: http://www.nelincs.gov.uk/ DiscoPirate 19:39, 7 Oct 2004 (UTC)
I myself live in North East Lincolnshire, and while this game is not particularly widespread in its playing, I have heard it played on a few occasions. Thomas 20:42, 7 Oct 2004
- OK, learned something, thanks: and withdraw Delete. — English counties certainly change very often, that part I knew :-) — but "Oxenfez" still Googles at zero, and surely someone somewhere would have referred to it online? — Also, it must have other names and it might be merged with them? (Practical question: how to find them) Bill 19:47, 7 Oct 2004 (UTC)
That's odd. I've known of this game for a long time. Perhaps it is not as widespread as I first assumed, explaining the seeming lack of a website. I'm certainly going to look for (probably more common) names and merge them Dave 19:49, 7 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Comment Dave first edit 7 Oct 2004, three edits total as of this writing, all to this discussion. Dpbsmith (talk) 17:58, 11 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Comment An anon, 62.254.0.18, created Noj with the content simply being "See Italic text'Oxenfez'". It was speedy deleted, and then re-created by User:Bill Thayer as a redirect to Oxenfez. I don't know whether "Oxenfez" is real, but it seems very odd to me that someone would take a non-word appearing in the description of the game and create an article about it. I'm going to ask Bill why he created the redirect. Dpbsmith (talk) 00:51, 8 Oct 2004 (UTC)

- He did, and I did, and if "Oxenfez" is worth keeping under that name, we did agree that Noj is (purportedly) an alternate name. Per the author of Oxenfez; I'm not convinced of the name, but am having a devil of a time figuring out how to find the real name of the game. — Bill 19:37, 8 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Surely it's better to preserve the entry rather than delete it even if the name isn't a very widespread one? After all, the game itself exists, and as such I think it would be fairer to leave the information until it can be replaced with a more common name, and then the "Oxenfez" page redirected to it? Thomas
- Comment The game itself does exist. Although I'm sure it goes by a more common name elsewhere I am yet to find it. Dave 18:38, 11 Oct 2004 (UTC)
OK, here's my vote, which I think is the first actual vote in this discussion (besides the lister's implied vote): Dpbsmith (talk) 20:27, 11 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Delete unless someone can supply that name for the game. If "the game itself does exist," it shouldn't be that hard to find a reference to it or description of it, and that reference or description will surely contain a name for the game. Dpbsmith (talk) 20:27, 11 Oct 2004 (UTC) P. S. I just checked all the "vocal" games at Drinking games. ("vocal" being the closest category) and saw nothing resembling this one. Dpbsmith (talk) 20:32, 11 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Keep the information since regardless of its name, other users have reported having heard of this game, albeit perhaps in a different form. --Thomas 21:58, 11 Oct 2004 (UTC)
