The result of the debate was keep (no consensus). Suggestions have been made to transwiki parts, and merge parts but finding something clear here is awfully difficult. Sjakkalle (Check!) 08:04, 12 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Jihad Verses of Islam
del: (1) move the whole bunch of 300+ quotes from Quran into wikiquote. (2) Merge the remaining 2-3 sentences into Jihad. mikka (t) 18:34, 29 September 2005 (UTC)
- Hmmm, what to do with this one. On one hand I could support a transwiki to wikiquote provided someone cleaned it up a bit and removed the bolding which is pretty obviously added for POV purposes. On the other hand though, what is the value of having these quotes retained? All this information exists already in Wikisource if I'm not mistaken. What is the value of sourcing it somewhere else in a decidedly POV format? I'm going to say outright Delete for now.--Isotope23 19:11, 29 September 2005 (UTC)
- What you call "POV format", I call "quotations on a subject", like, "famous quotes about music". mikka (t) 20:11, 29 September 2005 (UTC)
- It’s the selection of quotes that makes it POV format. One could make an entirely different selection of quotes to prove the opposite, or any point. ♠DanMS 00:02, 30 September 2005 (UTC)
- DanMS is correct. These particular quotes are taken out of the full context of the Quran and displayed in a format that obviously has a POV connotation. I just fail to see the value of keeping this or any collection of quotes from a source that is pushing one POV of the source as a whole, even in wikiquote--Isotope23 19:49, 30 September 2005 (UTC)
- Comment, no vote yet. This article could not possibly be made NPOV and it’s likely to cause an edit war and a lot of flaming. ♠DanMS 00:02, 30 September 2005 (UTC)
- Keep if rewritten. The article does say this is disputed in Islam. If the quotes supporting the self-purification side of the debate were given equal weight, then I feel this would be a useful source article (rather than having the indiviual quotes available but scattered). Best to redirect to a NPOV title as well (i.e. turn this into a redirect). Dlyons493 Talk 02:20, 30 September 2005 (UTC)
