Wikipedia:Article wizard/biography/intro

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cautions

Now that you are writing your article, there are a few things that you have to make sure of:

  • The article is written from a neutral point of view
  • All facts are verifiable
    • If the page is about a living person, all facts must be supported with references in the article.
  • The article is made up only of facts reported elsewhere and contains no original research
  • Writing about yourself or people you know personally is strongly discouraged.

Tips

The toolbar above the edit window and the character table below have many helpful things on them.

  • If your article is short, leave the {{stub}} on the article or replace it with a more specific stub tag from these lists.
  • Place your article into categories by adding the code [[Category:CategoryName]], replacing CategoryName with a category relevent to the topic
    • Look at articles about similar topics to get category and stub tag suggestions.
  • You may want to use citation templates to format your references.
    • You can also use inline citation as opposed to a list of references, but this is optional. See Wikipedia:Footnotes for more information.
  • Use the "Show preview" button to see what your article will look like before saving
