I have changed 'he changed his name to his mother's maiden name in 1914' to 'he changed his name to his paternal grandmother's name...' - his mother's maiden name was Rebecca Mocatta.
- In the context of the period (1914), he changed his very German name (Schloss = Castle) into something more English. Take the y off and you actually have Wales.
