Arts & Communication Magnet Academy (ACMA) is a public magnet school in Beaverton, Oregon, United States. It is part of the Beaverton School District and remains the only public arts magnet high school in the Portland metropolitan area. It is a grade 6-12 magnet school for middle school and high school students who appreciate the arts. ACMA has been open since 1992 when it was only a high school, but was extended to include middle school grades soon after.
[edit] Acceptance
For 14 years the school had an application process that included an essay and interview but in 2007 it was changed to an open lottery. This has concerned students and parents for fear of diluting talent and accepting students who are insincere about their interest in the arts.[citation needed]
