Arthur Vincent Aston was born in 1896 in Chester.

He was educated at King's School, Chester and Queen's College, Oxford. Aston was a Colonial Administrator and had posted as the Resident Commissioner of Penang from 1948-1950 and 1950-1951. He was the World War I RFA Cadet Malayan Civil Service in 1919. Aston also posted as the Malayan Civil Service Chairman of Kinta Sanitary Board, Acting Resident Councillor of Penang from (1 April 1933 - 20 April 1933), District Officer of Telok Anson, Acting Resident Councillor of Malacca and British Adviser for Perak (1946 - 1948).

On 7 May 1955 Aston married Patricia Jane Williams, daughter of Captain Roderic Cecil Williams and Alice Katherine Howard Paget. Major Michael Aston was Aston's only child. Aston lived at The Mill House, Swallowcliffe, Salisbury, Wiltshire, England.
