Art4Charity is the title of a group that uses the sale of arts and crafts to raise money for charities. Artists and craft workers can submit their work to be sold, with the proceeds given to various not-for-profit organizations.
There are two Art4Charity methods or schemes. The first, used primarily by groups which work in poorer or developing countries, gives money raised by selling the art to the artists, which can give them a successful business that supports their families. For example, a farmer who also does work as a painter or photographer can sell one of his or her paintings or photographs through the Art4Charity group, which gives him or her a share of the proceeds.
The second method, used by Art4Charity groups in the developed world, obtains donations of original artwork from established artists, sells those pieces, and gives proceeds to a charity designated by either the artist or the purchaser. Prospective buyers can purchase art that helps hospices, animal rescue groups, wildlife sanctuaries, and other causes.
