The article seems a little bland. I watched arsenio for its full run (I am a white guy from Canada with an adopted black brother) and I will swear on a stack of bibles that the situation with Jay is worth adding another sentence or two to, and that it must be recognized that Arsenio either went out because of his overrepresenting of black culture in a show that could have taken off to the top, or that he became aware that he was on the way out and decided to make a statement.

To the surprise of everyone in the USA, Black culture (i mean american black not african) is not that interesting. It is interesting enough to represent say 4% of a tv show, like NY culture, or italian american culture, or foreign stuff, or sex, or latino's ... nobody wants to see relentless invitations to Maya Angelou unless they are also prepared to deal with relentless, equallly boring, visits by white authors.
