[edit] Summary

The following is a quote from an e-mail (July 5, 2006) sent to me (User:Thivierr) from Melissa Welch, Director, Public Relations (she handles PR for AFE).

The logo is trademarked--and is awaiting copyright. It's owned by Armed Forces Entertainment and is not part of the public domain. Permission to use the logo must be requested and approved by Armed Forces Entertainment. They have granted the authority for use on Wikipedia. However, it can not be downloadable.

Note: Wikipedia's usage of the image is based on fair use, not permission (even though we do have permission). Fair use applies, because this is necessary to identify and illustrate the organization. No free alternative exists (by the nature of such images).
