The 3rd Arkansas section needs to be moved to a regimental page like the 1st Arkansas (Confederate) Scromett (talk) 16:31, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] There was no "Confederate Medal of Honor"

The Confederate Medal of Honor is a postwar UDC creation as best I can tell, and was not named that either. Any references to it here are going to need citations from contemporary (not post-war) sources. Red Harvest (talk) 13:32, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

I have removed the following:

The Confederacy had only one medal of valor to offer its soldiers in honor of heroism during the war. That medal, the Confederate Medal of Honor, was awarded to forty seven Arkansans for bravery in action. Few, if any, ever received the actual medal, as the Confederacy lacked the funds to produce them in great numbers. However, they did keep maticulous records of those awarded.

I'm not sure where it belongs in this article, but it is apparently a postwar award according to the link provided, and it did not use the name given here. It is not clear from the reference that the men listed were actually recorded by for the award by the CSA or if they were nominated by the UDC later. Understand that this is not an objection to the award itself nor a denial of the importance of the actions by the forty-seven. The context appears to be incorrect and requires some clean up by someone with more knowledge of the award. Red Harvest (talk) 23:21, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
