Highway 72 is a mostly east-west highway in northwest Arkansas. Its western terminus is in Maysville at an intersection with Highway 43. Its eastern terminus is at U.S. Route 62 5 miles west of Garfield. AR 72 passes through the communities of Gravette, Hiwasse, Bentonville and Pea Ridge. Between Bentonville and Gravette, Highway 72 follows a former alignment of U.S. Route 71.
In the late 1990's Highway 72 was rerouted away from downtown Bentonville along Business US 71, Highway 102, and Highway 112.
