The ARIA Music Awards is an annual event for rewarding Australian music artists. It is arguably the biggest night in the Australian music scene and is followed by various 'invite only' afterparties hosted by major record labels.

[edit] ARIA AWARDS

I think it really sums up the ARIA awards well, when someone as untalented as Kylie Minogue is way too good to attend the ARIAs. You know what though, she is correct.(Khan 21:48, 8 November 2005 (UTC))

[edit] Website's incomplete records; picture of an award

The official website's records are very incomplete, for the first 15 years or so. I emailed them to ask why and they said they're in the process of updating them. It's a bit of a worry... if they don't have the records, then who does?!

This seems to have been tidied up a bit as of today OZ_Rhett 09:38, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

I also emailed them to ask if they have a suitable photo of an award we could use, either as a free image (yeah right) or as fair use. The woman I wrote to said she passed the request to their legal dept and I'm still waiting to hear back.

[edit] Unhide

Those hidden headline headings should not be. It helps to see the headings so editors can add stuff to the sections.100110100 19:15, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Highest selling award

While I didn't read the whole article, it doesn't seem to mention the award for "Highest Selling Single" or something like that. I remember reading that Holly Valance was nominated for this and I came here to see if it told me how that would work.. Is it made up? -Anthony- 11:42, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 2007 Hall of Fame inductees

I've just added a number of ARIA Hall of Fame (HoF) inductees (Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons, Hoodoo Gurus, Frank Ifield, Radio Birdman, Brian Cadd and Marcia Hines) with ref supplied: they were inducted in July 2007 (exact date supplied) at the separate HoF ceremony (generally held separately from ARIA Awards since 2005). I also reffed Nick Cave's induction: at the October ARIA Awards ceremony. I suggest deleting the 'Honorary' inductees from this table: in his acceptance speech Cave named fellow members of his band (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds). His recognition of their contributions to his status as HoF inductee is laudable, however they were not inducted by the ARIA board - they are not listed on ARIA's website as HoF inductees and ARIA doesn't have an 'Honorary' HoF category. Other artists have been inducted into the HoF and have also been members of bands, their fellow members are not automatically HoF ('Honorary' or otherwise). If ARIA were to induct Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds as a band into HoF then individual members should still not be listed in this article (see other HoF bands whose members are also not listed).Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 09:32, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

I have now deleted the 'Honorary' inductees as per reasons above.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 23:34, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
