[edit] Naming
Just curious but if the mineral is named after the chemist Arfwedson, why is the element named Arfvedsonite? -- Riffsyphon1024 04:07, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Date of discovery
There is some confusion about the year this mineral was discovered
- 1823: Mindat, Mineral Atlas (German, but no need to know German to understand)
- 1923: Webmineral, Alkali Nuts.
Personally I would use 1823. This is not such a rare mineral (as the number of locations in Mindat shows) and most of the minerals were discovered at end of the 18th century - beginning of the 19th century. It does make sense to name a mineral in honor of a living person (Johan A. Arfwedson was alive then) than to name it on behalf of an almost forgotten figure, 100 years latter.
