Ares I-Y will be a structural test flight in the Ares I spacecraft development program. The test flight vehicle will be similar to the planned Ares I. The flight is scheduled for September 2013.[1][2]
The test flight will consist of a five-segment booster with real upper stage and a dummy J-2 engine. It will be used to perform a high altitude abort test of the Launch Escape System with a boilerplate Orion capsule.
