Area code 636

Area code 636 serves east central Missouri near (but not including) St. Louis, including parts of the city of Chesterfield, and all of Union, De Soto, Troy, St. Charles County, and Jefferson County.
636 is also the original area code for the fictional town of Springfield on the television series The Simpsons.

- In an episode of The Simpsons entitled A Tale of Two Springfields the (939) area code was created for what became New Springfield after the (636) area code ran out of valid numbers.
