I'm really busy right now and will be for the next couple of hours, most likely, but I put the three standard RFA questions here. Go ahead and answer them so I can see what direction we want to take. Useight (talk) 23:15, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Traditional RFA questions
- What admin areas do you intend to work in?
- What do you believe are your best contributions?
- What conflicts have you been in and how have you handled them?
- This question always confuses me. What exactly does it mean?
Well, it's asking you to detail some sort of disagreement or other negative situation you were in and what you did to fix it. For example, someone who kept reverting you and you discussed it on the article's talk page and figured it out (or, on the other hand, had to report for WP:3RR. Or perhaps someone kept vandalizing your userpage and what you did. You can see how I answered this question on my successful RFA (which was my third attempt). Could you look at my answers here and tell me what I did(n't) do? archanamiya · talk 20:26, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, I reviewed what you said at your recent RFA. Since I believe you just wanted me to give feedback on your answers (instead of on the !votes), that's what I'll do.
- Question 1: Your answer is too short; it's only two sentences. You'd want to explain a little how your experience has made you into an editor that could effectively work at AIV, UAA, etc. For example, "I have reported X number of vandals to AIV after giving them adequate warning and so I'd like to be able to help clear the oft-present backlog there." Say something like that for UAA, AFD, or whatever else. When answering Q1, don't mention more than 3 or 4 things that you want to work on. In fact, you might want to say something like, "I plan to start at AIV and UAA. Once I get comfortable with that, I'd like to expand my work into AFD." Don't make it look like you're going to bite off more than you can chew.
- Question 2: You answered Q2 well, giving links to articles you created. You might want to mention that Ben Bulben, instead of "best of them all", was "rated B-class" by Wikipedia:WikiProject British and Irish hills. I also don't think that "I am a very active editor" is necessary. You'd also want to mention any WikiProjects you're involved in.
- Question 3: You did a pretty good job with Q3, especially if you haven't been in any conflicts of greater magnitude. Except you'll want to provide diffs giving evidence of you reverting the vandal, him vandalizing your userpage, you reporting him to AIV, and him being blocked. People like to see diffs. - Thank you very much! Also, could you give me some questions that may show up from other users? archanamiya · talk 16:04, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Likely questions
Here are four potential questions. I have more for after you answer these ones. Useight (talk) 19:52, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- How do you believe you've improved from your previous RFA's? Do you feel like you've addressed all of the problems pointed out?
- I feel as though I most definitely have improved. For example, in my RFA found here, the main reason that I was voted against was a lake of activity. Now, I am far more active.
- Would you place yourself on Category:Administrators open to recall?
- I would.
- How would you apply IAR to your contributions?
- This question is a little confusing. What exactly do you mean?
- What are your personal criteria for a potential admin?
- I feel firstly that they should have at least at little while's experience. They should also be active in the Wikipedia community. They should have no record of vandalism at least within the past 6-8 months, and they should demonstrate a good understanding of Wikipedia policies.
Feedback:
Q1: Perhaps be a little more specific, maybe detail just how active you are now, 100 edits per month? 200? 500?
Q2: Also tell why you would place yourself in CAT:AOR.
Q3: I'll try to be more specific, sorry. In what situation would you ignore all rules? Useight (talk) 22:46, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
