Talk:Archie Manning/Comments

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I was a high school kid in Louisiana when Archie was playing for Ole Miss. I will never forget the televised game between Ole Miss and LSU, in 1969 I think, when Archie played with a broken arm in a cast. His performance was impressive and the game was hard fought to the end. I remember him bending over somewhat and holding his broken arm in pain on more than one occasion. I have rarely seen such a display of devotion to one's team, determination, and mental toughness. I found myself routing for LSU and Archie and for Ole Miss at the same, very confusing. (I was born in Grenada, Miss).

Archie won my and many others life long admiration that night. I wish his sons well in their football careers and enjoy watching them play. I will be watching Eli in his Super Bowl debute this year, as I watched Payton's before. I can see their Dad in both of them on the field.

I just wish Archie could have had a good team around him in the NFL, Super Bowl history would include 3 Mannings if that had been the case.
