[edit] Summary

This article from the November 1999 issue of National Geographic was retracted after the fossil Archaeoraptor liaoningensis was shown to be fraudulent.

[edit] Fair use in Archaeoraptor

This image is uploaded as a fair use replication of the first two pages of the November, 1999 National Geograpic article (now retracted) which discussed the fraudulent chimeric fossil Archaeoraptor liaoningensis. The image is too low in resolution for text to be legible, and documents the appearance of this controversial article alongside discussion of the article in the Microraptor Wikipedia entry. While not literally a magazine cover, this image is covered by the same fair use rationale.
