The Arch Rivalry (officially known as the State Farm Arch Rivalry for sponsorship purposes) is a college football rivalry game between the University of Illinois Fighting Illini and the University of Missouri Tigers. The rivalry is somewhat unique because the teams hail from different conferences - Illinois from the Big Ten Conference and Mizzou from the Big XII Conference. Although match-ups generally have not taken place annually, in recent years the series has been played more frequently. Currently the Arch Rivalry Game is scheduled as the opening game of the season for both teams, for the 2007 through 2010 seasons. Mizzou leads the series 14-7.
The series began in St. Louis, Missouri in 1896. For the majorty of the history of the series, it had traded off between Memorial Stadium in Champaign, Illinois and Faurot Field in Columbia, Missouri. Since 2002, the Arch Rivalry games have returned to St. Louis where they are played at the Edward Jones Dome. Mizzou has claimed victory at every game since returning the series to St. Louis. Mizzou leads 5 games to 1 when played in Columbia. The series is tied 5-5 for games played in Champaign. Mizzou leads 4-1 at the neutral St. Louis site.
