Appachan

Maliampurackal Chacko Punnoose, known as Navodaya Appachan (born 1924) is an Indian film producer and enterprenur. He was born in Alleppey, Kerala.
Appachan is the director and producer of films form Kerala. He produced movies like Manichitrathazhu, Manjil Virinja Pookkal and My Dear Kuttichathan. The latter was the first 3D movie made in India and released as Chota Chetan in Hindi. He is the founder of Navodaya Studio. His early involvement with film industry was with his brother Kunchako at Udaya studio. He has numerous "firsts" in Indian films. The first cinemascope film in Malayalam was directed by him. The first 70mm Indian made movie was Padayottam. The first 3D film in India was My Dear Kuttichattan. Appachan and Jijo his son, got President's gold medals for it in 1984. Kishkinta, a theme park was started by him in Chennai, and it is India's first theme park.
Appachan did his studies in Pulinkunnu, Mannanam and St. Xavier's College in Palayamkottu. He is married to Baby and they have two sons and two daughters.
