Description
English: Portrait of Aphrodite, variant of the Aphrodite of Knidos by Praxiletes and known as the Kaufmann head. Marble, Hellenistic period (ca. 150 BC), found in Tralles, Turkey. The body belonging to this head can be found in Berlin; other variants of heads copied from the famous sculpture by Praxiteles are known (see Image:Aphrodite_head_Ma_421_Louvre.jpg).
Français : Portrait d'Aphrodite, variante de l'Aphrodite de Cnide de Praxitèle connue comme la « tête Kaufmann ». Marbre, période hellénistique (vers 150 av. J.-C.). Provenance : Tralles, Turquie. La statue correspondant à la tête est conservée à Berlin ; d'autres types de têtes sont connus pour l'Aphrodite de Cnide (voir par exemple Image:Aphrodite_head_Ma_421_Louvre.jpg).
