[edit] invalid?

"Despite the failings of the ID3 format, some developers consider MP3 files with APE tags to be invalid files." Which developers, exactly? —Slicing (talk) 16:29, 19 December 2005 (UTC)

Me, and other developers of Quod Libet. I can provide you with cites in our bug tracker if you want. If you're going to call this into question, I'd also like a cite for APEv2 provides more flexibility and is rising in popularity that doesn't invoke foobar2000 (especially since it just stopped writing APEv2 tags by default). piman 16:11, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
Oh, and Developers mainly endorse APEv2 because the ID3v2 tag is very rule based and very difficult to update. which was my inspiration for that sentence in the first place. Which developers? I may rewrite the whole page in the future to make the comparison without reference to what "developers" think. piman 16:12, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
I've rewritten the article to provide a better technical overview of the differences between ID3, Vorbis comments, and APEv2. The mysterious "developers" no longer make any claims in it. piman 19:19, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
