Aoki Kazunori

Aoki Kazunori (青木一矩? 1541 - November 11, 1600) was a senior retainer under the clan of Toyotomi throughout the latter Sengoku Period of Feudal Japan. After Kazunori has distinguished himself among the retainer class beneath the Toyotomi--justifiably under Hideyoshi's half brother, Hidenaga--who he had conjectively started to serve under when initially joining the Toyotomi--Hideyoshi granted Kazunori the surname of 'Toyotomi' and additionally received the Kita no sho District of Echizen province. As Kobayakawa Hideaki--another respective retainer under Hideyoshi--was transferred to this respective province in 1598, Kazunori presently began supporting the former, following with service under Ishida Mitsunari by the 1600 Sekigahara Campaign. Following Tokugawa Ieyasu's initial victory over Mitsunari during this campaign, Kazunori sent a written letter of apology to Ieyasu via the hands of Maeda Toshinaga, an additional supporter of Mitsunari's 'eastern' cause. However, as rationality would have it, Ieyasu rightfully thought little of this written apology, and regardlessly confiscated Kazunori's lands by means of not assisting his side. As Kazunori was thus present without any land under his jurisdiction, this incident was the most probable conclusion to a sudden illness that the former had suddenly conceived, dieing shortly after realizing the detrimental circumstances he was in.
