[edit] Name

Is there a notable enough village/location Antonovka or whatever else for that matter? If not, how about moving the article to Antonovka? --Irpen 00:28, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

I don't know why I called it Antonovka (apple) to begin with. But let's see, maybe someone knows any Antonovka town/village, whose some famous son/daugher placed on the map. --Irpen 00:33, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Discussion

There is a mistake on this page. Antonovka apples (yellow) are not the same as Antonov Apples, which are green. This is implied by this sentence, "Ivan Bunin's early short story, Antonovka Apples (1900), is a sort of ode to this apple cultivar." Bunin's short story name was in fact Antonov Apples.

Antonovka had been popular long before the Revolution. Remember Bunin's "Антоновские яблоки"? --Ghirlandajo 20:19, 17 December 2005 (UTC)

  • Sure! I wrote "and Russian Empire". Now, should it be under Antonovka? Guys, please bring up any Antonovka village, if exists. --Irpen 00:37, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
    • Surely there are many Antonovka villages but I don't share the opinion of our Polish friends that every hamlet, no matter however obscure, should have its article in this WP. --Ghirlandajo 01:29, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

Well, I seem to remember seeing the debates on general notability at some policy page. While there was no consensus whether every school is notable, there was one that every village is. I can kind of see that. Most villages have something curious in their history.

This however, doesn't precludes us from moving this article. We can well have an apple under Antonovka, with "otheruses" template on top and the [[Antonovka (disambiguation)}} would disambiguate between an apple cultrivar and Antonovka (Tula Oblast) (if there is one there). --Irpen 02:25, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
