[edit] Date of death

Although the House of Commons database indicates Yanakis' death as 1 January 1997, the tributes to him in the House of Commons were made on 11 December 1997 where the Speaker indicated he died "a little while ago" and Lorne Nystrom mentioned he "passed away a few days ago". [1] On that basis, the date of death should be listed around December 1997. Dates of 1 January on the Parliament of Canada MPs website database should not automatically be assumed to be reliable - the database could merely be defaulting to New Year's Day when a precise date in 1997 could not be determined.
