"The three wartime novels are widely considered by scholars to be amongst the best to emerge from the second world war". Citation is needed for this bold statement. Other candidates spring to mind including Evelyn Waugh. The article does rather over-egg the cake. Xxanthippe (talk) 09:09, 27 January 2008 (UTC).
