[edit] NFL career
On May 17, 2005, Spann was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New York Giants. Three months later, the Giants released him from the team. He remained a free agent until January 19, 2006 when he was signed by the New England Patriots. Spann played in eight games with the Patriots in 2006 as a backup defensive back and special teams player and made seven total tackles.
On June 1, 2007, the Patriots re-signed Spann to a contract[1], but he was later released from the team on July 20, 2007.[2] The Patriots later resigned him on September 25, 2007 to the team's practice squad.[3]
