[edit] Early life
Rosenroll spent much of his early years traveling across Canada and the United States. He finally settled in Wetaskiwin, Northwest Territories in 1896 and started ranching and grain farming. In addition to his ranch he started a number of other commodity based enterprises including Lumber, Coal, Dairy, Real estate and Insurance. In 1898 just two years after moving to Wetaskiwin he would become the towns first Member in the Territorial Assembly. [1]
[edit] Political career
He was first elected to Northwest Territories legislative assembly in 1898 and re-elected in 1902. In both Northwest Territories elections, he was acclaimed. [2]
In 1905 when Alberta became a province he was elected to the first legislative assembly in the 1905 Alberta general election for the Alberta Liberal Party. He would serve one term in the provincial legislature.
After his territorial and political career Rosenroll made an attempt at Federal politics running for the Strathcona Liberal nomination against James McCrie Douglas. Rosenroll lost the nomination but was supported by the German-speaking community.
The town of Rosenroll, Alberta is named in his honor.[3]
