[edit] Trivia

  • He started to play the cello at age 7.
  • He has played in many orchestras.
  • His style is social class wearing top hats & carrying canes. His physical attributes include his brown fringe and his occasional moustache.
  • He is known for his glasses which gives him the nickname Mr. Cool and also Mystery Manninen. Many people think he's blind and a mute since it is hard to see videos of him talking when in fact he's neither. He started out not wearing them which can be seen in their first album. He has also talked while performing to the other members as seen on Apocalyptica's second DVD.
  • He mostly sits down while performing like traditional classical musicians, bowing at the end of the show as well with his former members and wearing traditional attire.
  • Sometimes he plays with a cello designed with a Finnish flag.
  • Paavo Lötjönen has described him as a cool on the outside but filled with rage inside.
