Annapurna is the title of a book by Maurice Herzog, expedition Leader of the first recorded expedition to reach the summit of Annapurna in the Himalayas, being the story of that 1950 French Himalayan Expedition.
The original text was written in French and has been translated to a number of languages.
The accomplishment of the expedition was to attain a human presence upon the highest peak so-far to be climbed at the time, and the first of the eight-thousanders -- peaks higher than 8,000m, which occur only in the Himalayas.
