Animal Content in Entertainment

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ACE Animal Content in Entertainment is a program of the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), whose mission is to develop and support animal content in television and film.

[edit] Philosophy

Animals impact everyday human lives in surprising ways. Their lives traverse peoples' and vice versa, sometimes directly, often indirectly. They share humans' immediate world as much loved pets, or play a different, largely disregarded role in various aspects of human existence, including health, crime, culture, entertainment, sport, fashion, food, corporate business, science, travel, and the environment. Animals are part of the rich canvas of human life and their stories are humanity's stories.

ACE's wish is that writers, producers, and directors will be inspired to find creative and compelling ways to portray animal issues in their story-lines, or to consider exploring a subject for a documentary.

[edit] Birth

ACE is the brain child of filmmaker and new media social entrepreneur Julie Lofton, who first brought the idea to HSUS CEO Wayne Pacelle in 2005, after she won the prestigious Genesis Award for her documentary Best Friend Forgotten.
