[edit] How strong is her connection with Brazil?

Is she an ethnic Korean Brazilian, ie her parents were Brazilian citizens, perhaps born in Brazil themselves? Or is she only accidentally Brazilian, ie her parents were (South) Korean citizens who just happened to be temporarily living in Brazil when she was born, but never settled there permanently? Her parents were both born in Korea. They moved to Brazil for business reasons. Her father, her siblings (at least some of them) and she left when she was 8 and moved to the United States. Her mother remains in Brazil to this day. So to answer your questions, her parents were Koreans living in Brazil when she was born, but her mother has been there for at least 18 years so it appears to be somewhat permanent. The references within the main article explains some of this. Other points she explained herself in interviews during the 2007 United States Women's Open. Crunch 15:38, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
