Angel City, Florida

Angel City was a city, now a portion of Merritt Island, in Brevard County, Florida, United States. It is the southernmost portion of the Newfound Harbor section of Merritt Island, with Buck Point at its southernmost point. The shortest distance across the point is only 8 feet, shorter than Dragon Point by Mathers Bridge. Buck Point is where Newfound Harbor ends at Banana River. About 9 miles to the north is where Newfound Harbor joins Merritt Island. Then, Merritt Island continues north to extreme southeastern Volusia County, where Kennedy Parkway and US 1 meet. South of Buck Point is 2 isolated islands, called the Brady and George's islands. These islands can be accessible from Lotus and Georgiana.

The Minutemen Causeway once linked Cocoa Beach to Angel City, but it has been demolished. Oscar Worley was the Toll Bridge Tender for many years during the 1920's and 1930's until the present SR-520 was built in the early 40's and he denied the opportunity to lived and work the new bridge, instead started a Fish Business in Angel City until his death in 1956 at age of 83. His Wife Hattie, name Angel City after the first Homesteader, Captain Angel from Rhode Island who never lived there but his Nephew did. Worley's were the second family to Homestead in Angel City.[citation needed]

Angel City is located at 28°17′55″N, 80°39′22″W. It is bounded to the south and east by the Banana River, to the west is Newfund Harbor, and to the north is SR 520.
